COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - University of South Carolina students are turning leftovers into lifelines, reclaiming surplus food and repackaging it for classmates in need.

The university’s School of Hospitality and Tourism Management launched “Feed the Flock” this summer, an initiative that has already provided more than 5,000 meals through the Gamecock Community Shop.

Last year, the Gamecock Community Shop served over 12,000 students. Visits are up 300% this year.
