Several families have been displaced and a few people were taken to the hospital after a fire broke out in Bridgeport Tuesday evening.

The fire department said they responded to a structure fire in the 3000 block of Main Street around 4:30 p.m.

Crews found fire coming from the second floor of the building. Six people were evaluated by emergency personnel, two of which were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

The American Red Cross is helping eight families that were displaced as a result of the fire.
