The first opportunity for fans to see new Missouri women’s basketball coach Kellie Harper’s first team in action ended in a stunner.

The Tigers lost to Maryville 90-84 in overtime in an exhibition game Tuesday night at Mizzou Arena. The Saints are a Division-II team out of Town and Country, Missouri, near St. Louis.

Since it was an exhibition game, the result will not count against Mizzou’s record for the 2025-26 campaign. It is, however, a highly concerning scoreline given that the new season is less than a week away.

Mizzou officially opens its first season under Harper on Monday against Central Arkansas, with the nonconference matchup set for a 6:30 p.m. tipoff time at Mizzou Arena.
