LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Not many teams play one of the best teams in the country on the road in an exhibition.
That's exactly what the Michigan State men's basketball team did on Tuesday. The Spartans, who are ranked No. 22 in the country, played on the road against No. 4 UConn and lost 76-69.
It was the second and final exhibition of the season for MSU and will officially begin the season on Monday at home against Colgate.
With the schedule Michigan State has this season, Tom Izzo liked the fact that his team would get tested before the games start to count.
The Spartans never led on Tuesday and trailed by as much as 19 in the second half. UConn led by 11 at halftime and made four more 3s than Michigan State in the first half.
A 7-0 run by MSU late in the second half cut the deficit
