BOISE, Idaho — Four of five defendants charged in an illegal gambling operation pleaded not guilty Monday, while a fifth is scheduled to make her first court appearance Tuesday.

A grand jury indicted Ivan Tellez, Samuel Bejarano, Alejandro Torres Estrada, Cesar Orozco and Dayana Fajardo on charges of illegal gambling connected to horse race betting. Bejarano and Tellez face an additional charge of transmission of wagering information.

According to the indictment, if convicted, the defendants must forfeit all property connected to the alleged gambling operation. This includes La Catedral Arena, where the horse racing took place. They must also surrender more than $40,000 allegedly earned through gambling.
