City officials have announced a community vigil for Wednesday, Oct. 29, in remembrance of the San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputy shot and killed in Rancho Cucamonga on Monday.

The City of Rancho Cucamonga, in partnership with the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department, invite the public to attend the vigil honoring Deputy Andrew Nunez. The event will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Rancho Cucamonga Civic Center, at 10500 Civic Center Drive.

Nunez, 28, was fatally shot while responding to a domestic violence call on the 12300 block of Hollyhock Drive just after 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 27.

The suspected gunman, identified as 47-year-old Angelo Jose Salvidar, fled the scene and led authorities on a pursuit along the 210 Freeway before crashing his motorcycle. He was taken into custody a
