TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - A local restaurant in midtown is stepping up to support those facing financial difficulties during the ongoing government shutdown.
Kingfisher Bar & Grill is offering free meals to furloughed federal workers and their families this Sunday, Nov. 2. This initiative will take place near Grant Road and Country Club Road from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. The restaurant plans to serve between 250 and 300 meals on a first-come, first-served basis.
Employees are volunteering their time, and local businesses such as Shamrock Foods are contributing supplies.
"We feed our community in the most literal way possible. I have the space, and I got a bunch of really lovely people to donate their time and product," Jacki Kuder, chief and owner of Kingfisher Bar & Grill, said.
