Central Vietnam is grappling with catastrophic flooding triggered by unprecedented rainfall, resulting in the deaths of at least nine individuals and leaving five others unaccounted for, according to government statements on Wednesday.
The deluge has severely impacted significant tourist destinations such as Danang and Hoi An, flooding over 103,000 homes. The floodwaters have enveloped large sections of Hoi An and parts of Hue, areas known for their historical significance and natural beauty.
The flood crisis has also disrupted transport, with landslides cutting off major routes and power outages affecting several regions. The country faces continued heavy rainfall, heightening concerns for further flash floods and landslides, as documented by Vietnam's disaster agency.
