The State of Idaho has made the next of kin process easier for residents. Bannock County Coroner Torey Danner came up with the idea of implementing the system.
Governor Brad Little signed the bill for a statewide database to be created in 2024. With the data base being implemented in July 2025.
The database helps coroners in Idaho notify family members in a timely fashion when a loved one dies.
It's also designed for users to update their Next of Kin information without having to wait until their driver's license or state issued ID needs renewed.
Danner says the system has made contacting family members of loved ones much faster.
