Opposition MNF called the bandh to put pressure on the ZPM government to scrap Forest Conservation (Amendment) Act, 2023.

Normal life across Mizoram came to a halt today as the opposition Mizo National Front (MNF) began its statewide 10-hour shutdown from 6 AM in protest against the Forest Conservation (Amendment) Act, 2023 (FCAA). The party is of the view that the law poses a direct threat to Article 371(G) of the Indian Constitution, which safeguards Mizoram’s customary laws, land ownership, and natural resources.
