TROY, NY (NEWS10) -- The defending champs of Class AAA in Girls Soccer, Saratoga Springs, are going back to the title game after a 1-0 win over Shaker in the semifinals, thanks to a game saving blocked shot from Zoe Mahar with 10 seconds to play to preserve the lead.
In a rematch of last year's Section championship game, a match Saratoga Springs won, the 2-seeded Blue Streaks looked to punch their ticket back to the title game against the 3-seed Shaker.
It did not take long for the defending champs to get on the board, less than 7 minutes into the contest, Ashley Shaw connected with Parker Clifford who was alone behind the defense. Clifford lifted the ball over the keeper for the goal to give Saratoga the 1-0 edge.
Play would be back-and-forth for much of the contest, with Shaker's best
