SALISBURY — The trial for two men charged in the 2021 homicide of Judy Eller Hoffner, a 79-year-old woman who lived in the Gold Hill area, began on Monday.

Both Robert Maurice Singletary and Douglas Martin Patrick have pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Singletary is charged with first-degree murder, robbery with firearms or other dangerous weapons, possession of a firearm by a felon and felony breaking and entering.

Douglas Martin Patrick is charged with first-degree murder, felony breaking and entering, possession of a firearm by a felon and robbery with firearms or other dangerous weapons.
