Two senior CPI (Maoist) leaders surrendered before Telangana DGP B Shivadhar Reddy, ending over four decades of underground activity.
Pulluri Prasad Rao, known as Chandranna, and Bandi Prakash, alias Prabhath, appeared before the police in Hyderabad. Chandranna, 64, had been underground for 45 years. Prabhath, 55, spent 42 years in hiding. Both leaders held key positions in the Maoist organization and operated across Telangana and neighboring states.
Chandranna joined the Maoist movement in 1980 and served as a central committee member for 17 years. He cited health concerns as the reason for his surrender. Prabhath began his involvement with the Radical Youth League in 1983 and later joined the Sirpur armed Dalam.
The Telangana Police confirmed that 427 Maoist cadres surrendered in 2025
