Losing a loved one is a pain that words can barely describe. But for K Sivakumar, the sorrow of losing his only daughter was followed by another kind of heartbreak, where he faced corruption and indifference from the very system meant to help in times of grief.

K Sivakumar, former Director-Finance and former Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), shared a post on LinkedIn describing what he called the “sad state of affairs" he faced after the death of his daughter, Akshaya. The 34-year-old, who had done her B.Tech in Computer Science from IIT Madras and MBA from IIM Ahmedabad, passed away due to a brain haemorrhage on September 18.
