A so-called 3cm per hour blizzard has been forecast for parts of the UK - with England at risk of a dusting of the white stuff too. The maps have been shown on WX Charts, which uses Met Desk data, as we head towards November.

The penultimate month of the year could see snowfall in Scotland and northern England on November 13. Counties at risk south of the border include Northumberland, Cumbria, Durham and the Pennines.

A wintry shift is likely towards mid-November, the maps show, based off GFS modelling. The advanced projections mark the first significant snow of the season for England, with winter set to be just two weeks in when the white stuff could materialise.
