Politicians had an optimistic tone when announcing the plan to build the 50 tiny homes, but the public responded with a petition in an attempt to stall the project.
The City of Penticton and Province announced Friday afternoon their intention to build the units at 616 Okanagan Ave E., the homes will be for the homeless, and council will decide whether to issue a Temporary Use Permit for the site on Nov. 4.
The petition “Support Safety for Wiltse & Industrial Penticton area” on change.org aims to prevent the City from making its decision so quickly. There were 900 signatures as of press deadline on Tuesday.
