In a major move expected to benefit sugarcane farmers in Uttar Pradesh, the state government announced an increase in the State Advisory Price (SAP) of sugarcane by Rs 30 per quintal for the 2025-26 crushing season.

This would mean that the price of the early variety would now be Rs 400 per quintal while the normal variety would be Rs 390 per quintal.

Calling it a “historic move”, Sugarcane Development and Sugar Industry Minister Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary said the increased price would mean an additional payment of Rs 3,000 crore to sugarcane farmers this crushing season.
