WESTLAKE, Ohio — Westlake police arrested a 28-year-old man Monday morning after a brief foot pursuit at a Crocker Park apartment.

According to Westlake police, officers responded to the apartment at around 11 a.m. on Oct. 27 to serve a felony warrant. The warrant, issued through the Ohio State Highway Patrol, stemmed from a prior vehicle pursuit.

Officers say the suspect’s mother answered the door and was informed that someone had been using her son’s identity illegally. The suspect, identified as Gerald Romel Fleming, then came to the door and stepped outside.

When officers told him he was under arrest, Fleming ran through the apartment building’s halls and stairways. After a short foot pursuit, Fleming surrendered and was taken into custody following a brief struggle.
