Tom Odell’s arena tour came to Co-op Live last night and - playing for one night only in Manchester - the singer-songwriter had something to prove.

You’d be forgiven for thinking that Odell would be more suited to intimate venues instead of a 23,500 max capacity arena. Best known for his emotional pieces like Heal and Black Friday, Odell seems most comfortable when sat at his piano.

His songs cover difficult topics such as love, loss, grief and heartbreak - but he is not just a sombre musician .

While the concert featured quiet, sad moments with Odell musing at his piano by himself, he and his band also enthralled the audience with their more upbeat, passionate numbers.
