AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) – Maine is among multiple states suing the Trump administration over the suspension of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

A group of state attorneys general sued the USDA as well as its Secretary Brooke Rollins on Tuesday, the lawsuit shows .

The lawsuit seeks to maintain funding of SNAP benefits during the ongoing federal government shutdown, CNBC reports .

According to Reuters , this is the first time SNAP benefits will be suspended since the program was created 60 years ago.
