Millions of people across the nation will be at risk of losing their SNAP benefits, also known as food stamps.

That’s because of the ongoing government shutdown.

The Feed Evansville executive director says 9,000 households in Vanderburgh County rely on SNAP benefits, supporting families with kids, the disabled, and seniors.

Area food relief organizations are meeting with city and state leaders, looking for grant opportunities as part of emergency planning modes.
