SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- The final numbers for West Nile virus have been released.

In a news release from the South Dakota Department of Health, there were 87 cases and four deaths in 31 counties. Seven counties had positive pools of mosquitoes that carried West Nile, as of October 29.

10 human viremic blood donors were also identified, meaning that they had the virus in their bloodstream and may have donated blood without knowing they carried the virus.

Over 1,700 cases were reported in 45 states.
