Hurricane Melissa made landfall in eastern Cuba as a Category 3 storm early Wednesday after bringing violent winds and heavy rainfall to Jamaica, where it made landfall as a Category 5 storm Tuesday.

Images are now showing the destruction, particularly flooding and structural damage, caused by the storm.

Melissa made landfall near Chivirico in Santiago de Cuba. That's where Rolando Ramis captured floodwaters on Tuesday, inundating homes even before the system arrived.

In the footage, people wade in the water, and one appears to carry a dog in their arms.
