MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee County Zoo's Small Mammals building is set to close its doors indefinitely on Sunday, a decision that aligns with the zoo's strategic plan focusing on its future.

The zoo announced its " Our Zoo, Our Future " plan in April, highlighting its commitment to enhancing habitats, introducing new animals, and creating immersive experiences for the community to share and learn from.

Staff have relocated the animals to other Association of Zoos and Aquariums-accredited facilities. Zookeepers affected by the building’s closure have been reassigned to alternate animal care areas within the zoo.
