This is Part 2 in an investigative series related to the 1984 cold case homicide of Kelly Jean Robinson.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Investigators cast a wide net in their pursuit to find Kelly Jean Robinson’s killer.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, along with the Sioux Falls Police Department, interviewed dozens of people in the days and weeks after her body was discovered May 28, 1984 in a gravel pit pond near Luverne, Minn., about 30 miles from her home in Sioux Falls.

Two witnesses emerged with the same story.

They spotted Robinson get into a two-door blue car, resembling a 1974 Ford Torino, outside of The Frontier Bar in downtown Sioux Falls, between 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 1984.

It was Robinson's last known sighting.
