DES MOINES, Iowa —
City leaders and developers have inaugurated Alley Landing, a new affordable housing complex on Douglas Avenue in Des Moines , at the site where Plaza Lanes once stood before it was destroyed by fire.
The $14 million development is designed to provide 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom apartments to veterans and residents earning at or below 60 percent of the median income.
"We are privileged that we got to come in here, you know, recognize Plaza Lanes with our name, Alley Landing. And, we're thrilled. And we know it's a big responsibility, and we're embracing it, and we're loving it," said Barry Accountius, of Woda Cooper Companies.
Alley Landing will also feature a dog park and future space for retail shops, enhancing the community amenities available to residents.
