A former Bedford High School teacher who had a sexual relationship with a student received an eight-year Ohio prison sentence Tuesday afternoon for having sex with her in a Toledo hotel room and his Toledo home.

Christopher Wilhelm, 39, of the 3600 block of Anderson Parkway, had pleaded guilty Oct. 7 in Lucas County Common Pleas Court to two counts of third-degree sexual battery by a person of authority. Judge Gary Cook sentenced him Tuesday to four years on each count that will be consecutive to each other and to a separate Michigan prison term.

Wilhelm will have five years’ parole in Ohio after his release and must register as a Tier 3 sex offender in Ohio, with community notification and verification required every 90 days for the rest of his life, the judge ordered.
