LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - After 28 days of silence in Washington, the country is starting to feel the burn as this weekend marks a scary deadline.
If the government is not opened by November 1, countless US organizations will lose funding.
Local programs face immediate impact
Bryan Conover, executive director of Central Kentucky Community Action Council, says November 1 will be brutal for their Head Start programs.
They’ll take such a hit because of the way Head Start does their grant allocations nationally.
“What the Office of Head Start has done is split out all 1,500 of those grants over the calendar year to kind of reduce administrative burdens...on November first, there’s about 140 grant recipients who are not going to have a notice of award or funding for federal funds,” said Cono
