MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A Midsouth couple is one of "thousands of tourists" trapped in Jamaica as Hurricane Melissa moves over the island.
WREG exclusively interviewed the couple about their terrifying experience.
"You all continue to pray. Going down to the rest area. No faking. Hotels have people hunkered down with bedding in hallways and banquet rooms. There's barely any space to walk in some places," said one of the family members stuck in Jamaica.
"Guests are being given water, and right now, the air conditioning still works. Cell service and Wi-Fi is expected to go down, leaving most people without any contact."
It may be days, even more than a week, before any flights can leave or arrive from the local airports, leaving tourists trapped on the island.
