NEW AUGUSTA, Miss. (WDAM) - The suspect accused of stabbing a person at a gas station in New Augusta has been identified.

New Augusta Police Chief Terry Partin confirmed the suspect to be 27-year-old Colton Yawn. He is charged with one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Partin also confirmed that the individual who was stabbed is stable. Yawn is expected to be interviewed and possibly arraigned on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident happened inside the store around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. After the incident, police reported that Yawn was found near Highway 29, just south of New Augusta.

At this time, the relationship between the victim and the suspect is unknown.
