INDIANA (WPTA) - To help protect trick-or-treaters this Halloween, police in Indiana are laying out safety reminders for parents.

Huntington County Sheriff’s Department shared a post on Facebook urging parents and families to plan ahead before going out trick-or-treating.

Police say the Huntington County Board of Commissioners passed an ordinance laying out rules for registered sex offenders on Halloween that establishes fines and penalties for “actions that may infringe upon public health, safety, and welfare amid local Halloween festivities.”

Between 4 p.m. and 11 p.m. on October 30 and 31 or during any other designated trick or treat dates, sex and violent offenders are prohibited from turning on exterior porch lights, handing out candy, or participating in trick-or-treating activi
