BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) -- Forest Stormwater Park kicked off a year-long project in the making with a ribbon-cutting Wednesday afternoon.
Sitting on the former site of Market Street Elementary School, Boardman trustees and county commissioners say this was needed in order to mitigate flooding issues in the township.
They say over 1,400 homes have been impacted by the flooding in the past.
The new park has storm surges to help with the flooding. It also has a track where, if you walk the laps, it’s a mile, featuring lights along the track.
Boardman officials said there’s also projects in the works to help with flooding.
