LUBBOCK, Texas — As the government shutdown continues into its 4th week , many individuals are worried about where their next meal will come from as SNAP benefits and some federal paychecks come to a halt.

However, the Texas Department of Agriculture is reaffirming its commitment to feeding Texas students during this time.

In a statement on Wednesday, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller said his department is working with USDA, Secretary Brooke Rollins, the Trump Administration, and its local partners to make sure every student in Texas is fed.

"Texas families can count on us," Miller said. "Whether it’s in a big city cafeteria or a small-town lunchroom, no child will be left to wonder if there’ll be a meal waiting for them at school."
