The postseason is one of the most entertaining parts of sport, and that is because every team comes into it with a clean slate starting at 0-0. The Spartans soccer team came into the West Regional as the eighth seed and faced off against the number nine-seeded Goddard-Eisenhower at Spartan Field Tuesday evening.
It would be a cold, windy Emporia evening for the match, and this would play a role in the match. The benches would be used frequently and some passes would get caught in the wind adjusting its trajectory. Starting in the first half, the Spartans would have more overall possession, but early in the game, there was a feeling-out process.
The first ten minutes didn’t see much happening, but the Spartans would get their first offensive chances of the match around the 15-minute mark.
