CHARLESTON, WV - The Mountain State is beginning to catch up to the rest of the nations when it comes to staying connected.

According to a new survey by the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community, West Virginia has the nation's biggest percentage point gain in the number of households connected to the internet between 2023 and 2024. The Mountain State had an increase of 2.55 percentage points, growing from 87.05 percent in 2023 to 89.60 percent in 2024.

Despite the increase in connectivity, 62,113 West Virginia households still remain offline, making it one of the least connected states in the country. Around 8 million households nationwide are still without internet access.
