Dorothy Schechter, 96, of Orange, passed away peacefully on Oct. 25, 2025.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Dorothy was the third youngest of 12 children. She moved to Shaker Heights in the 1950s with her beloved husband, Herbert (of blessed memory), where they raised three children: Barbara, Richard and Roy.
While growing up in New York, Dorothy had a vibrant career including teaching ballroom dancing at the renowned Arthur Murray studio, where she became known for her grace and poise. Dorothy’s love of dance, music and family were some of the many passions she would embrace throughout her life.
In the 1970s, Dorothy transitioned into a successful residential real estate career that spanned over 40 years. Working with several agencies, including Howard Hanna, she earned the admiration of many c
