LYNWOOD, Calif. (KABC) -- A homicide investigation is underway after a 7-year-old child was found dead inside an apartment in Lynwood. The child's mother was arrested for murder, and the father and grandmother were also taken into custody.

Deputies were called shortly after 8:30 p.m. Tuesday to an apartment building in the 3100 block of Euclid Avenue, near Santa Fe Avenue.

Authorities reportedly received a call reporting a dead child. When deputies arrived at the apartment complex to conduct a welfare check, they made the grim discovery. The 7-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

The child's mother, father and grandmother were taken into custody, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
