MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Melbourne Police Department is seeking information about a hit-and-run crash that killed a 70-year-old bicyclist on Wednesday morning.

According to a news release, police responded to the crash at the intersection of Eau Gallie Boulevard and Highland Avenue around 5:33 a.m.

Police said they found the injured cyclist, but the vehicle involved in the crash was not at the scene.

The cyclist, later identified as 70-year-old James Griffin from Melbourne, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to the release, the bicyclist was traveling west on Eau Gallie Boulevard in a designated bicycle lane when a light-colored car turned west on Eau Gallie Boulevard
