CARROLL Co., Ill. (KWQC) - A social media threat that placed West Carroll schools under a secure procedure was not credible, officials say.
Officials with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office said at 11:15 a.m. they were made aware of a social media post about a possible threat related to West Carroll High School, according to a Facebook post .
School officials put all West Carroll Schools into “secure” mode, meaning no one is allowed in or out without office approval.
Officers were at both school locations during the investigation, officials said.
After the threat was deemed not credible, officials said the secure mode was lifted and students were dismissed at the normal time.
Deputies said the investigation is ongoing and there is no active threat to the community.
