MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica — When Dani Kwiatkowski texted her husband, Wayne, last week, she didn't know it would be one of the last messages they'd exchange before Hurricane Melissa hit Jamaica.
"I said, 'I love you' — all in caps — and he responded, 'good morning, love of my life,"' Kwiatkowski said.
Messages like those, along with her faith, are what's keeping her grounded as she waits for Wayne's safe return.
She said her husband traveled to Jamaica last week on a mission trip with 19 other men, fully aware that Hurricane Melissa could potentially hit the island.
"Monday night, I couldn't sleep," Kwiatkowski said. "I was up all night between tears and praying and screaming at God — just asking Him to put a bubble of protection around our men and keep them safe and bring them home to us.”
