The longtime partner of Gloria Estefan ’s daughter Emily was arrested on domestic violence charges in Miami following a fight over possession of a cellphone.

Gemeny Hernandez, who has been dating Emily, a singer, since 2016, was arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 28 and charged with felony strong-arm robbery and misdemeanor battery, according to an arrest affidavit from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Department obtained by PEOPLE. TMZ was first to report the news.
