Big Y plans to open a grocery store at Westfarms in Farmington, according to a news release.
"We're thrilled to become part of the vibrant Westfarms community after a long search for the right opportunity," Mathieu L. D'Amour, vice president of real estate and development for the company, said in a statement.

The store is expected to be around 53,000 square feet and to open in Spring 2027 on the southern side of the Westfarms property.
Big Y said more details, including hiring opportunities and grand opening events, will be shared in the coming months.
The company was founded in 1936 by brothers Paul and Gerald D'Amour and the store was named after an intersection in Chicopee, Massachusetts where two roads converg
