LEXINGTON, Tenn. (WKRN) — Body camera video of a man's arrest for posting a Facebook meme quoting President Donald Trump appeared to contradict part of the Perry County sheriff's defense of the case. The prosecutor dropped a charge of "threatening mass violence at school" a few hours after Lexington Police released the video to News 2.
Larry Bushart was jailed for 39 days on a $2 million bond.
A court affidavit links Bushart's arrest to Perry County Sheriff Nick Weems. An investigator said they received a message from the sheriff “regarding a Facebook post Larry Bushart made on the What’s Happening in Perry County, TN Facebook page" in response to someone's post about a vigil for the conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
