An incident in which a Detroit police officer was inappropriately dressed for court will be "appropriately addressed," the city's police chief said Wednesday.

In a video livestreamed Monday from the 36th District Courtroom of Judge Sean B. Perkins, Officer Matthew Jackson appeared on Zoom while wearing the top half of his police uniform — but without any pants.

In the video, the officer can be seen raising his right hand to be sworn in for testimony with his bare legs exposed. The livestream then returns to Perkins, who appears taken aback.

"You got some pants on, officer?" he asks.

The stream cuts back to Jackson, who had by that time had adjusted his camera to show him only from the chest up.

"No sir," he replies.

The hearing then continues as expected.
