DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ) - The city of Danville is updating its zoning code for the first time since 2004 as part of the comprehensive plan that went into effect this year.
“Things are a little outdated,” said Renee Burton, Division Director of Planning for Danville. “The world has changed drastically since 2004. So, we’re looking to do an update to our zoning code now to reflect that.”
Plan Danville began in January of this year, laying a roadmap for the city through 2030. Part of that plan called for an update to the city-wide zoning code.
The zoning code determines if properties are classified as residential, commercial, or industrial.
It also states what kinds of buildings can be built, how tall structures can be, minimum lot sizes, and more.
