WILKES-BARRE — Wilkes-Barre Elks Lodge 109 recently presented checks to two area food programs — the Ollie’s Restaurant Dinners for Kids program and Sara’s Pantry at the Sidney and Pauline Friedman Jewish Community Center.

On Oct. 22, the lodge presented a $2,000 check from the Elks National Foundation (ENF) Spotlight Grant program to Ollie’s Dinners for Kids Program, Edwardsville.

Matt Borwick, Ollie’s Dinners for Kids Program owner/coordinator said Dinners for Kids aims to fight childhood hunger by preparing and distributing meals to local children in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area. Even though many kids receive free and reduced breakfast and lunches at school, many go to sleep hungry.
