After 32 years serving as the executive director of the annual North Carolina Lions VIP (visually impaired persons) Fishing Tournament, Gwen White is stepping down to turn the job over to her son, Owen White.
“It’s bittersweet,” she noted, in a Voice interview. “I don’t want to give it up because I really love it, [but] it’s best to get younger, new ideas.”
The 2025 VIP Fishing Tournament, which White calls “the largest event of its kind in the world,” was held from Oct. 20-22 with fishing from two head boats, Nags Head Pier, Avalon Pi
