Nobel Prize-winning author Wole Soyinka is speaking out after he announced his non-resident visa has been revoked by the United States.

Soyinka, a 91-year-old Nigerian playwright, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1986, becoming the first African to receive the honor. While speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Soyinka said he believes the retraction was due to new immigration policies implemented by President Donald Trump’s administration.

“It’s not about me, I’m not really interested in going back to the United States,” Soyinka said, according to the Associated Press . “But a principle is involved. Human beings deserve to be treated decently wherever they are.”
