A man has been charged after a former cop was killed in an alleged hit-and-run in northern NSW.
The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon, with emergency services called to Ulmarra Showground on Coldstream Street, Ulmarra - about 15km north of Grafton - after receiving reports of a crash.
Lisa Ward, 55, had reported the car for reckless driving to police and after coming across the vehicle again, she took a photo of the car's licence, before it allegedly drove at her and hit her, the Daily Telegraph reported.
Ms Ward was treated by paramedics for serious injuries but she was unable to be saved and died at the scene.
Police began an investigation after declaring a crime scene, and on Wednesday morning at about 7.40am, the 4WD was tracked down and seized in South Grafton.
