ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM)--- The City of Elmira ranks third in the country in the number of multifamily housing units.

Across the United States, access to housing is one of the most critical issues because of the rising costs and limited supplies. In Elmira, most apartments are less expensive than the national average.

"Since the pandemic, the cost of building has skyrocketed, and in most cases, it's not easy to do to renovate an old building, but in most cases, we can go in and renovate and pass the savings on to people who renovate with us," said James Capriotti, Capriotti Properties Manager.

Elmira has a lot of Victorian large homes that were common for families years ago.
